Kansas City Zoo is reducing the cost of admission during the month of January. The Africa portion of the Zoo will be closed during this time to complete maintenance projects in that area. Guests will receive a reduced admission of $8: that’s a savings of $6.50 per person. Clay and Jackson County residents will receive $5 admission, reduced from the regular $7 admission. Africa will reopen on February 1, 2017, and regular admission prices will resume.
Guest pathways around Africa are being repaved for the convenience of our guests. Annual maintenance of one of our most popular rides, the African Sky Safari, will also be conducted in January. Closing Africa for the month will help us make the needed improvements to create an even better viewing environment for our guests. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but are pleased to offer reduced admission for those visiting the Zoo in January. Regardless of the weather, there are still many things to see and do at the Zoo! Visit the animals in our warm indoor exhibits at Tropics, Discovery Barn, Snakes and Helzberg Penguin Plaza. Some animals love the cold. See our tigers, otters, sea lions and more basking in the chilly temperatures. Berlin, our polar bear, also loves these balmy days; see her enjoying the snowfall at the Polar Bear Passage.
Africa is scheduled to reopen on February 1, 2017, but it’s always a great day to visit the Kansas City Zoo!
