Africa Pathway Closed
The pedestrian pathway to Africa is currently closed due to construction on our elephant exhibit. Africa will only be accessible by tram, which is free to all guests during this time. Thank you for your patience while we improve your Zoo.
The KC Zoo Swan Cam will be back online in the spring and will be fixed on the nesting box, where we hope to have cygnets hatch.
The heaviest flying bird in North America, the trumpeter swan is a sight to behold. These huge waterfowl were once common across the Midwest but in the early 1900’s were nearly hunted to extinction for their plumage. Recent efforts to reintroduce birds to wild habitat have proved successful and in many areas these swans are now a common sight.
