Rhinoceros Hornbill

tropical bird

The prehistoric appearance of the rhinoceros hornbill is a true wonder of nature, the large casque (the ornamentation on the bill) is made of keratin, the same material as hair and fingernails. In their native Indonesia hornbills are hunted for their casques and feathers. You can find our rhinoceros hornbills in the aviary on Tiger Trail.
