The dog days of summer are upon us. Cool off in the shade of the painted dog and dingo exhibits to learn more about these animals that look similar to your dog at home.
Visit the painted dog exhibit at 10 a.m. for a Zookeeper chat and watch the dogs enjoy new enrichment items. Our three painted dogs will also receive ice treats at noon and Zookeepers will have a training session and chat at 2 p.m. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. enjoy painted dog activities that will be fun for the whole family at the exhibit in Africa.
Head over to see our other dogs in the Australia section of the Zoo. We will have Zookeeper chats at the dingo exhibit at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Missouri Search and Rescue K-9 (MOSAR) will be bringing their dogs out to the Zoo to show off their very special skill set. MOSAR responds at the request of law enforcement and fire departments to find missing people. Primarily responding to call-outs in Missouri and Kansas, they also have responded throughout the Midwest. In 2016, MOSAR responded to 54 call-outs and so far in 2017 they responded to 24 call-outs. MOSAR provides live find air scent dogs, scent specific trailing dogs, cadaver dogs, evidence dogs, and disaster dogs. MOSAR dogs will be at the Tropics Tent to meet with guests on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
