With no snow in the forecast, we are making our own at the Zoo this weekend! On Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21, join us for SnowZoo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some of our animals will be cooling off with icy treats. Join in the snowy fun this weekend.
Do you want to build a snowman? Our penguins sure do! It’s always snowing inside Helzberg Penguin Plaza. See our cold weather penguins climb the snow piles then dive into the chilly water. Berlin’s Polar Bear Passage will be transformed into an icy paradise when 6,000 pounds of ice arrives in her exhibit. Watch her roll around and play in three tons of ice cubes. Our otters are also getting in on the icy action. Our river otters will enjoy a specially carved ice sculpture at 8 a.m. SnowZoo isn’t just for polar bears, penguins and otters; many of our animals will be cooling off. See them devour icy treats at scheduled times throughout the day: orangutans at 8 a.m., elephants at 11:30 a.m., gorillas at noon, rhino at 12:30 p.m., chimpanzees at 1 p.m., sea lions at 1:30 p.m., golden lion tamarins at 2:30 p.m. and tigers at 3 p.m.
What winter wonderland is complete without a winter princess and her snowman companion? Bring a camera and have your picture taken with them and then create your own frozen moment at our polar-rific photo booth. Check out all the cool action from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If you miss winter and are in need of a cooldown, SnowZoo is the place to be!
