Great Pumpkin Smash

November 2, 2013

It’s the Kansas City Zoo’s Great Pumpkin Smash!

KCZOO:  On Saturday, November 2 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. animals will toss, ram, throw, slam, eat and dig pumpkins at the Kansas City Zoo during the Great Pumpkin Smash.

Pumpkins become enrichment. Wide varieties of zoo animals find the taste of pumpkins irresistible, and also take pleasure in using them for entertainment. Pumpkins are utilized as an additional enrichment activity for the inquisitive critters. Animal enrichment activities are in place to enhance and encourage natural behavior of a particular species.
