We have established contact with Dr. David Cooper, who is a veterinarian for the KZN wildlife in Africa. Here he has immobilized wild Mountain Nyala for radio collaring to document their movements and learn migration/seasonal patterns. No references exist on drug combinations for use in Mountain Nyala, and Dr. Suedmeyer contacted numerous zoo veterinarians across the United states and abroad to assist Dr. Cooper. Alas, no one could be found that had had experience but Dr. Cooper appreciated our efforts. He successfully immobilized 19 nyala and collared them for evaluation. He will subsequently publish his technique so everyone can learn.
